Prof. Hesham Marei

Prof. Hesham Marei, acting Vice Chancellor and Dean, College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University,UAE. DDS (OMFS), MSc, FDS (RCS – Eng.), PhD (Med Edu.), is a distinguished figure in Oral andMaxillofacial Surgery, currently serving as the Dean of the College of Dentistry at Gulf Medical University,UAE. His academic journey commenced in 1997 at Cairo University, where he later earned his Master'sand Doctoral Degrees in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Suez Canal University, Egypt. Prof. Mareifurther refined his clinical skills at Cardiff Dental School, UK, obtaining a Fellowship in Dental Surgery in2006 from the esteemed Royal College of Surgeons in London. Passionate about medical education, Prof.Marei expanded his academic portfolio with a Master’s Degree in Medical Education in 2012 and a PhDin Health Professions Education in 2018 from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. His doctoralresearch focused on innovative applications of computer simulation in dental education. Prior to hiscurrent role, Prof. Marei held significant academic and clinical positions in the UK, Egypt, and SaudiArabia, including his most recent post as Associate Professor and Consultant of Oral and MaxillofacialSurgery at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. A prolific researcher, Prof. Marei boasts over 50publications in renowned journals, exploring diverse areas such as 3D printing in dentistry, the impact ofchemotherapy on bone healing, osseointegration of dental implants, virtual patient usage in dentaleducation, and medical professionalism.
